Zsa Zsa Gabor, star of Moulin Rouge and countless TV shows, has died at the age of 99. While she was a bit controversial in her later years — she slapped a cop — it can’t be disputed that while there were many who did glamour in Hollywood, few enjoyed it as much. Famous for most of her career for just being Zsa Zsa, the Hungarian actress was also just as well known for addressing everyone as, “Dahling”. She was a lover of diamonds and fur almost as much as she loved men. She was married nine times and is quoted by The New York Times, as saying, “a girl must marry for love and keep on marrying until she finds it.”
Still it was the glamorous image that everyone loved. Before the Marilyns and the Harlows, there was another gorgeous blonde seductress, former Miss Hungary 1936, Zsa Zsa Gabor. Once married to Conrad Hilton, she is the great aunt of Paris Hilton. People said this week:
The Budapest-born socialite leaves behind a unique legacy: she was one of the first celebrities who was famous for being famous, she was married nine times and never shied away from drama or scandal. The only thing that seemed to slow her vivacious spirit in her later years was a string of serious health problems, including a lung infection and the amputation of her right leg.
Well dahling, you will be missed. For Hollywood has never known one quite so colorful and beautiful as you.
